Race In America & Beyond: A Multicultural Perspective is a feature-length documentary that examines, through real dialogue, the issue of race from a multicultural perspective.
The film explores issues that all people face on a daily basis with regard to race and discrimination. It is meant to create dialogue between all people and does not present a two-sided story of the struggles between black and white people. Rather, it helps people of all races explain their perspective and challenges everyone to examine the relationships they form based on race within their own perspective ethnic groups.
This film was created in an effort to help people talk candidly and truthfully about the one topic that has plagued America for way too long. While it is not a solution to the problem it can be a giant step in the right direction.
This film is unique because it is a film about race in which Latinos, African-Americans, Whites, Asians, Pacific Islanders and many other ethnic groups were afforded the opportunity to give their perspective on race. It also examines race from the religious point of view where as Muslims, Jews and Christians present their cases on how belief in a higher power and ethnic identity go hand in hand.
Race In America & Beyond also gives voices to people from other countries and allows us to see ourselves from an outsiders point of view.
The Film also highlights the opinions of the average person and the expert professional i.e. Journalists, Authors, Professors and people about their everyday lives are juxtaposed to create powerful commentary that will impact any viewer.
Last but not least, the project was filmed with an iPhone in Jackson, MS, which is the capitol city of what some may consider the most racist state in America, Mississippi.
Soon we will be launching a fund-raising campaign through www.kickstarter.com and we'll be asking for your help to get our project funding so we can share it with the world. Please be on the lookout... We would truly appreciate your help in our endeavor.
Sincerely,
The TruthSpeakers
